Your senses come alive
The aroma waking your soul
The brim gently touched by your lip
As you take that first sip.
You smiled at me as you said,
"It's amazing how it energizes you
When you take that first sip."
You don't even drink coffee
You said you do now because I do
I love drinking coffee
But there's nothing I would love more
than doing things with you.

it's 2 'o 8 and rather late,
may 9th is the date,
we said goodnight an hour ago,
but i can't seem to fall asleep so...
i lay in bed thinking of you
and all the amazing things you do.
the way your hand fits into mine
and the way our hearts align.
no one can compare
because you and i are a lovely pair.
dare i say something passionate and clever?
i want you now and i need you forever.

"goodnight my handsome,
i promise i won't get lonesome."
based on slightly real events; i drank a ***** chai and now i can't seem to fall asleep.

You are tea,
serene in your surroundings.

                                                                                                       I am coffee,
                                                                           attention always bounding.

Your colour milkish pale,
creamy optimism.

                                                                                             I am taken black,
                                                                                                bitter cynicism.

Two sugars,
to match your disposition.

                                                                                                    None for me,
                                                                    I'll maintain my grim affliction.

                                               We differ so much,
                                                     it's obscene.

                                                   But in the end
                                               we're both caffeine.
Repost of an old one
Wake up and my
Head is cracking
Like Kentucky pavement.

Foggy and frustrated;
(At what?)
**** this, **** that.
Morning ******* *****
Worse than Kentucky pavement.

Coffee caresses my nostrils
And lures me to the kitchen
By hand. Inhale deep
Like the first drag of a stress cig.
Pour.
       Sip.
              I’m a brand new *****.

Worrying too much
This is out of my control
Guess I’ll make coffee
Empire Mar 2020
I did it again....

You don’t need all those chemicals
You can feel them can’t you?
Heart rate picking up speed
Anxiety growing in your gut
You shouldn’t have done that
You know better
You know this is how you get worse
This is how you get bad
This is where you go wrong
When your hands are shaking
Heart racing
And you start to remember...

I remember....
I used to love this
I love this.
Let myself drink way too much caffeine... I don’t want to start doing this to myself again... I don’t do well on stimulants...

i long to be
your first cup of coffee
kissing those
sleepy eyes awake,
whilst you feel the warmth
spread through your bones.
i long to be
the reminder of home
felt with each
gentle mouthful,
now an essential part
of your daily ritual.
i long for you
to spend the day thinking
of when you might
taste me next,
leaving hints of cinnamon
and sweetness on your lips.
- this morning, with her, having coffee.

C8H10N4O2  so  softly  calling
Feel  my  energy  level  falling
It  faintly  whispers  my name (psss)
But now I'm just stuck stalling     (uh)
I  try but just can't break  free        (so)
"How about some herbal tea?"     (no)
Your  suggestion  is  appalling  (ugh)
But  coffee?  I'm  always  keen
Need that daily hit of caffeine
Reworked previous poem into the shape of my beloved coffee mug

The C8H10N4O2 is calling
I feel my energy level falling
As it whispers my name
Now I'm just stalling
Can't break myself free
"How bout some tea?"
Your suggestion's appalling
But coffee? I'm keen
Seeking my daily hit of caffeine
Inspiration found in a local cafe with the molecular formula of caffeine (C8H10N4O2) painted on the wall.
