i run
blanket tied loosely around my neck
mom says
i could choke
but i do not worry
if my cape gets caught i will shift
down
down
i become a frog
i leap, and my legs soar behind me
if i am snatched
by a bird
i will outstretch my arms and glide
down
down
a mighty hawk
i bellow, and the world turns to stone
if my wing
is clipped
i dig my fingers
down
down
anchoring with tiger claws
i pounce, and the villains fall
almighty
conqueror of nature
i relent, and the blanket falls to my feet
a poem about childhood

I don’t get why people want me to stay the same

When all I want to do is change

Never been normal or human

I’ve always wanted to be a shapeshifter

Now look what I am

An ever blooming flower

Don’t try to stop something that’s supposed to happen

I exist for a reason, not sure what

Try and stop me

I dare ya.

I gave you my wings but you let me fly
Wishing wells forever echo our sound
With painted feathers of lost memory
I sweep silent my old bones from the ground

When you left

You taught me
To only love men
who do not know of all the ways a heart can be shape shifted into broken

She runs with Panthers

Can't tell her name
It   C      A                                 with the land

She shapeshifts through the world

And though she never stays the same
And though she doesn't have a name
Her face is always pretty
And her eyes are always kind

I feel her in the air

She
       hovers

You know she's been here
