He will have the kindness
That will impress
All the darkness
left behind him.

EJT Dec 2017
O sweet forgiveness:
I fell in love with the past,
And though it did not last,
I watched my hands split into thorns;
And the earth grew by its petals adorned.
And so, I learned.

But
     I watch myself shake.

I   am   anxious.
I   am   completely unaware of who
I   am.

I   am   anxious.

In those bright and early moments,
There is sunlight in our voices!

One way or another, I am anxious.
Quietly,
                 quivering,
                                      questioning:

I check in on my happiness.

(March2015)
The pursuit of oneself is noble.

evening everlasting;
          the night dissolved, seeping into the world

existence echoed, persisted behind us
Over sweet sighing, parting.

……………………………………………………...
Like a dream I had forgotten how it had begun.
So, I was left to be aware of what was before me.
I glanced at this hand,
& a moment of infinity
was entered.
I was at the cusp of the end of an exhale
Pressing my lungs to my heart
Held in my sight:
the shape of those fingers,
half curled over the air.
                A shift! The pairs were caught:
For the first, ever, I was sealed;
it happened     inside       thoseeyes.

The world echoed its way out a backdoor behind us.
Shut, my breath gave out to a quick intake.

As in a dream I traced the sweet remembered melody melded of that still moment: a soft ringing, clean&pure.;
I woke up.
Night at the Mausoleum
EJT Mar 2015
It is the dashing, flickering sunlight past the naked trees' silhouettes I liken to a film reel.

I watched a sunset and I was enamored with my hand cutting through the night air.

The lot of my mind spilled out onto the street
and shone its own gleam in passerby headlights.

Growing fast and dimly into a state of melancholy,
I took a moment and a pause.

Now I wonder
Where the blunder,
Had come from?
What was done?

It's always been:
I find you at the broken end of each thought;
Steadfast and quiet, you're the horizon that I look to.
We met in the flickering strobelights of hesitation; greeting too close a depth that made us wonder unready, we fled.

I stepped into insomnia with thoughts spun in horror.
Met by my nightmare ghost leaning, I give a kiss of contempt.

I can understand that which is left to me in the dark.
Sometimes, you get blindsided by the past.

I met you as scars carried in the clouds.
You were the thunderstorm I ran through.
A crescendo rattling past the shallow surface of heartbeats,
together we were a depth unto ourselves;
By the souls, we found a loss of time.
As a rhythm all its own beating into my realm of conciousness, there came the first press of your existence into my life.
EJT Sep 2014
Notice given, but not consoled;
The trembling of the soul.

Occurring at the helm,
Of the notion of the self.

I am dizzied in the frenzy,
A coursing without entry.
