Crack of dawn
On a tar-kissed lawn
The rules of the nascent day
Will have us impaired

Watch the fawn
That was born from the pawn
Who bleeds for his pay
And eats unprepared

Where will she go?
Ask no day, they never know
Over the noon's sickly throat
I am under the looming crow

There is nothing to find
In the joywheel's fleeting time
How will we know when it has come?
What's there to see beneath the ****?

We are so calm and unprepared

I am gone or going away
I am gone or going away
For very, very long
For far too long

She came onto everybody
A ragged and holy fiend
The night could never live again
Life could never gasp again

She is so
She is so
She is all
She is all

Calm and unprepared
How could she afford to be
When she cannot see?
When she is on her knees?

So calm and unprepared

Am I happy now?
Am I happy now?

Common roaches feeding on vintage ceilings
Where one goes when they can't get up to feeling
The inauthentic rust that keeps me seated
There is nothing sacred that is not beaten

Am I happy now?
Am I happy now?
Am I happy now?
Am I happy now?

Where do I go when the winds don't blow?
How will I know when I am owed
All the splendour from this pain
How could anything ease my brain?

Calm and unprepared
We must be
Calm and unprepared
We must be

Why Men Cry in the Bathroom

For so many reasons.
I will tell you the why.
I think you know,
Or perhaps, you think you know.

Men are always O.K.,
Even when not.

We expect the worse,
Accept the worse,
Nonetheless,
We are forever unprepared.

Wearily, we cry,
In the bathroom, in private,
Lest sighs slip by,
We be unmasked,
Early warring, strife signs warning.

Copious, tho we weep
Before the mirror confessor,
It is relief untethered,
Unbinding of the feet,
An uncounting
Of beaded rosaries,
Of freshly fallen hail stones,
Of night times terrors
By dawn's early edition's light,
and welcomed.

But look for the mute tear,
The eye-cornered drop,
*** tat, that never drops,
But never ceases formation and
Reforming, over and over again,
In a state of perpetuity of reconstitution,

The tippy tear of an iceberg revealing,
And I see you peeping, wondering,
What is beneath

Look for:
the torn worm-eaten edges of spirit,
thrift shop bought, extra worn,
grieving lines neath the eyes,
where the salt has evaporated,
discolored the skin.
worry lines,
under and above,
browed mapped, furrowed boundaries.
the laugh line saga,
where better days are stored,
recalled, as well as recanted,
publicly, privately.

Why just men?

I don't know,
Perhaps,
it is all I know.

I forgot I can love
You’re a reminder
Walking among the living
Upside down

I’ve always been so
Unprepared
But does it matter

I feel safe in your giant shadow
I am not new to walking in the wild
You know you don’t need to worry for me
But you do anyway and it’s magic
In a way

Cause I’ve always been so
Unprepared
A little girl of many talents
Staring at the gates

What will they think?
So great not to care
I’ve always known what I was inside
When others took a knife
magnifying glass
You don’t need to
You and your
ultrasound eyes

I forgot I can love
You’re a reminder
Walking among the living
Upside down

I’ve always felt  so

Every day, a new sentence
prepared in our heads
We try to plan out our lives
but they never coincide
I'm looking up to the sky
With all these questions why
thinking that I'll get answers in reply
I can't seem to think straight
Thought I had all this sense
But I can't find the change
And every day I check,
that a new day has come
But I'm a song stuck on repeat
one that sticks in your conscious for weeks

Why am I not living life the way I should
Seems I’m stuck in traffic Morning and night
Work all day just to come home to sleep away the night
Is this really all I'm meant to be
Used to think I was meant for greatness
Now I just can't see, that being me.
Feels like I've left this all too late
I came unprepared to storm this gate
Better turn back now,
just let this dream fade

Always thought greatness
was where my life would lead
But now I see, I didn't need greatness
To feel fulfilled and succeed
Thought fame would be away
To achieve everything I'd need
But fame just brings disaster
and attention I really don't want
So I think I can be happy with what I've got

And this is no real story
Just thinking out loud
Through fingers, I keep typing
Hoping this will connect
Maybe someone out there
Needs something to which they can relate
And I've felt those feelings
where you spiritually connect
In others writings, It's a talent
Which is a blessing to possess
I'm trying to find that spark
That helped me light up the dark
Haven't written in so long
But I know this is somewhere I belong

Why am I not living life the way I should
Seems I’m  stuck in traffic Morning and night
Work all day just to come home to sleep away the night
Is this really all I'm meant to be
Used to think I was meant for greatness
Now I just can't see, that being me.
Feels like I've left this all too late
I came unprepared to storm this gate
Better turn back now,

But now I see, I didn't need greatness
To feel fulfilled and succeed
Thought fame would be away
To achieve everything I'd need
But fame just brings disaster
and attention I really don't want
So I think I can be happy with what I've got

I've written a bunch of verses
Unfinished works, Sometimes it truly hurts
losing motivation for something
you once so dearly loved
It got you through all those hard times
Now you won't even take the time
To write out some lines,
think of some quips and rhymes
Try to define yourself as a poet
Get those emotions out
With a pen and paper now
So that you can show it
And all those who need to read
So that they can see
there not in this alone,
They're in this with me

Why am I not living life the way I should
Seems I stuck in traffic Morning and night
Work all day just to come home to sleep away the night
Is this really all I'm meant to be
Used to think I was meant for greatness
Now I just can't see, that being me.
Feels like I've left this all too late
I came unprepared to storm this gate

Who never lost, are unprepared
A Coronet to find!
Who never thirsted
Flagons, and Cooling Tamarind!

Who never climbed the weary league—
Can such a foot explore
The purple territories
On Pizarro’s shore?

How many Legions overcome—
The Emperor will say?
How many Colors taken
On Revolution Day?

How many Bullets bearest?
Hast Thou the Royal scar?
Angels! Write “Promoted”
On this Soldier’s brow!

Desert
Umi Apr 2018
The desert,
A sea of sand, drought and dry air under a scorching, blazing Sun,
The wind may feel alike a cut, which burns through your senses,
Relentless, the heat takes over by day, yet by night it is cold enough to freeze you if you come unprepared. Such would be a foolish idea,
A dessert of thoughts, driving into my brain, leaving ideas uncovered
Leaving productivity hidden, under the sand of hatred and self doubt
Such places, landscapes, covered by firy silicate or ice are truly lethal,
Such state of mind, covered by uncertainty is truly lethal, for ones wonderful creativity, for art of all kind, conveyed or material, if you might wander through such a land without any guide to help out,
Worry not, for after every drought comes rain, blissful rain to fertilise the soil of thoughts which will blossom in wonderous ways, to shine,
After all, motion without movement cannot be possible so try to move
A wise friend once tought me, that if you give it enough time, even a nigh impossibility becomes a certainty, even a desert could be a forest
But until then, be patient my dear, even the most deserted place, carries some beauty in it, no ?

Transit garbled messages
From beings unprepared
Train-wreck waves of sound
Divine noise and ***** static
The foul breath of humanity
Tattered pieces of mentality
**** flavored carbonation
Steeped through alienation
Morbid tears of laughter
Plastered on demonic brick
Thrown through windows to the soul

How nice would it be
If we were always prepared
For all situations
And from surprises, were spared?

But rain doesn't wait
Till the shelter is raised,
And sun doesn't wait
Till you're wearing your shades.

Mud doesn't wait
Till you're wearing old shoes,
We can't always be ready,
And I'm not ready for you.

No shelter, no shades,
No shoes and no time;
Here you come, taking over
My unprepared mind.
Madeline Bowker Mar 2014
I never knew I could feel this way.
So strongly.
I never thought I could anyway.
You should me how emotionally
unprepared I was when you came into my life.
You scooped me up
I fell in love.
I don't think I can ever fall out.
