Transsexualism is described as the desire to live and to be accepted
as a member of the opposite ***, usually accompanied by a sense of
discomfort with, or inappropriateness of oneโs anatomic ***, and a
wish to get hormonal treatment and surgery in order to make oneโs
body as congruent as possible with oneโs preferred ***.
Transgender people and other gender minorities represent
roughly 0.3-0.5% (25 million) of the population.
In summary, MTF and FTM transsexuals may present with
micturition disorders as incontinence, overactive bladder, urinary
tract infections and decreased urinary stream. Patients should be
advised about these risks prior to *** reassignment operations.
Surgical corrective options should be determined on an individual
basis.
